Initiative Groups
The Initiative Groups are open to everyone, including non-members of the Network, with an interest in a particular area of mediation. They have a variety of aims, some of which focus on the needs of the members of the Group while others look outwards to the overall mediation scene in Scotland. The aims include:
- Support and exchange of information, experience and good practice (either in the full meeting or in a sub-group) in order to combat isolation felt by individual members, particularly those working outwith the central belt or in a less populated field of mediation.
- Establishing what mediation already exists in a given area and making it easier for potential users to find service providers.
- Raising awareness of mediation in relevant areas and changing the public’s attitude.
- Quality issues and the development of good practice guidelines and a common template for statistics.
For more in-depth details of the aims of each group, please select from the categories to the left.
Initiative Group meetings are usually held quarterly.
If you would like to become a member of one of the above Initiative Groups, please contact the SMN Administrator and indicate which group you would like to join. All communications about initiative group meeting times, minutes of meetings, etc are done via email.
