Join the Scottish Mediation Network
2008/2009 Membership
The Scottish Mediation Network is an excellent resource for both individuals and organisations interested in mediation. Currently, there are over 100 individuals and organisations that are members.
As a member you will receive our monthly e-newsletter Collaborate. With over 1000 subscribers, it is an excellent way to keep up to date with developments in mediation in Scotland and from around the world. It is also a good way to find out what training events and job opportunities there are available, and as a member you are able to advertise your events.
We organise networking events throughout the year aimed at enabling our members to meet and share their expertise and enthusiasm about mediation. These include our Initiative Groups as well as the Scottish Mediation Conferences, where we have been able to attract notable keynote speakers such as:
- Rachel Wohl, the Executive Director of MACRO, Maryland's nationally acclaimed Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office
- Dr Peter S. Adler, Environmental Mediator and President of the Keystone Centre
- Lisa Parkinson MA, International and Family Mediator
- Prof. Dr. Horst Zilleßen, Centre for Environmental Dispute Resolution Research and Management, Inc
We also provide our members with the opportunity to build upon their Continuing Practice Development hours through a range of workshops designed to support people from all spheres of mediation. Previous workshops have included:
- John Armstrong, Insight into Coaching in the Workplace
- David Fraser, Neuro Linguistic Programming
- Carolyn Hirst, Best Practice in Complaints Handling
- Geoffrey Corry, The Storytelling Process within Mediation
The Scottish Mediation Network also welcomes members from related professions. Whether you are interested in becoming a mediator or you are looking to find out more about mediation, membership offers you access to a wealth of information as well as a network of others across the mediation community.
As a member you are eligible to stand for election to the Scottish Mediation Board. Why not help to shape the future of the SMN?
