Employment Tribunal Fees to Encourage Mediation in England and Wales
In England and Wales, as part of the Government’s Employment Law Review, fees for employment tribunals are being tailored to encourage the use of mediation and arbitration. At present the cost of bringing a claim to an employment tribunal is paid for through taxes, however from summer 2013 there are plans to place this cost with the person bringing the claim, with power to compel the unsuccessful part to reimburse the successful party the costs of their application. The aim is to encourage those with employment disputes to use alternative methods for resolution and to cut the burden on the taxpayer. For more information please click here.
