Charles Ho Wang Mak is a Scottish Mediation Registered Practitioner and a mediator fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. With a rich multicultural background, he effectively facilitates dispute resolution among parties from diverse linguistic and cultural settings.
Charles is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (FHKIArb), and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (FAIADR). He holds an LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of Sussex, an LL.M. in International Economic Law from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and an LL.M. in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (with Credit) from the City University of Hong Kong.
As a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Law at Robert Gordon University, Charles imparts his knowledge in commercial law and dispute resolution. He has also taught at the University of Glasgow and the University of the West of Scotland. His academic contributions are complemented by his extensive publications in reputable journals like Trusts & Trustees and European Competition Law Review.
Charles holds key positions in professional organisations, serving as the Chairperson of the Young Members Group at the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution and the Young Practitioner Lead at the Beihai Asia International Arbitration Centre. He is accredited as a tribunal secretary at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
His commitment to excellence is recognised through numerous awards, including the III Prize in International Insolvency Studies 2024 and the Scottish Universities Law Institute Early Career Fellowship. Charles’s blend of academic prowess, practical experience, and linguistic fluency makes him a sought-after mediator in both local and international contexts.
