Planning and environment

Planning and environmental issues are usually resolved amicably. However they sometimes give rise to long running and difficult battles. Disputes can arise between many different parties, including major developers, builders, the local authorities and local community. A sense of exclusion may be felt by those who do not have access to the resources and teams of experts that others may enjoy.

Mediation replaces confrontation with dialogue. It improves understanding and helps to build a consensus. An independent mediator brings all the interested parties together. They then explore, in complete confidence, the possibility of reaching an agreement that everyone can live with.

To find a local mediation service, or a mediator who serves your area, use Find A Mediator or call the Scottish Mediation Helpline on 0131 556 8118.
