Kathleen Bolt

Kathleen is a mediator, trainer and consultant with extensive experience as an employment and discrimination lawyer. She initially worked as civil practitioner in the areas of family and personal injury law before specialising in immigration and asylum law. For over 20 years now her practice has been focussed in the area of employment and equality law including working to maintain people with long term health condition and disabilities in employment.She trained and accredited as a mediator with Core Solutions Group. She regularly acted as an advocate in mediations involving complex employment and discrimination disputes in her role as a solicitor.

Kathleen tutors on the Diploma in Legal Practice at Strathclyde University in mediation and mediation advocacy and employment law, and in mediation at Edinburgh University. She teaches on the on employment mediation within the LLM in Conflict Resolution at Strathclyde and also on the LLB  in the area of justice and ethics. She provides specialist training in mediation skills and conflict resolution and in employment and equality law, with a particular interest in training those involved in the arena of health and disability.

She has mediated extensively with the Edinburgh Sheriff Court In Court Mediation Service and the former Edinburgh Community Mediation Service, in addition to mediating within her own practice.

Kathleen has the skills and expertise to understand the complex legal, emotional and organisational issues inherent in disputes wherever they occur. She has experience of the difficult, sensitive and time consuming legal problems facing employees and employers, service users and service providers. She understands the impact of such disputes on business and the workplace. She has worked within the private, public and voluntary sector. This gives her the ability to gain the trust and confidence of all participants and to work with them to assist them to find creative solutions to resolve their differences.
