I am a retired doctor with a background in Internal Medicine, General Practice, Aviation Medicine and Occupational Medicine. As such I have had significant experience of human distress and conflict. This is what brought me to Mediation in retirement. I have always realised that Mediation can help in cases of conflict, and set about studying conflict in a Masters Degree, an LLM in Mediation and Conflict Resolution, at Strathclyde University, where I was trained in mediation skills.
I now hold a Master of Laws degree with Distinction in Mediation and Conflict Resolution, and I am a Lead Mediator in the Strathclyde University Mediation Clinic, dealing mainly with Simple Procedure cases referred from Sheriff Courts. These can cover: consumer rights issues, disputes with tradespersons, building matters, business disputes, housing issues and neighbourhood issues.
I have undertaken specific advanced training in Workplace Mediation and I have extensive experience of the modern work environment through my Occupational Health work, and extensive experience of the NHS environment, which makes me suited to mediating in these areas.
I am currently the Co-chair of the Board of the Mediation Clinic of the Law School of the University of Strathclyde.
