Turning Disagreement into Opportunity
Last year we welcomed family mediator Alan Jeffrey (Cyrenians Mediation & Support, University of Strathclyde Mediation Clinic) to deliver the well-received Masterclass: Back to Basics – The Who, What, When and Why of Mediation? Through group discussion, presentation and honest reflection, mediators of all experience levels were invited and challenged to examine their practice and re-connect with the basics of their mediation practice.
In 2024 Scottish Mediation and Alan would like to invite you once again to get back to basics. In Back to Basics: My role as a mediator we will come together to explore what it means to be a mediator. Touching on areas of ethics, efficacy, health and well-being, the workshop will prioritise the sharing of knowledge from the skilled and experienced participants within the (virtual) room. This will be achieved through both large and smaller group discussion, interactive activities and presentations and the analysing of relevant case study.
Areas of discussion may include:
• The role and responsibilities of the mediator
• Mediator bias and prejudice
• The impact of mediation…on the mediator
• The impact of the mediator…on the mediation
• The importance of peer support and life-long learning
• The creation of the ideal mediation space
So, whether you have been mediating for forty years or four months please come and add your perspective as we re-examione what it really means to be a mediator.
How much? – Members – £40, Non-Members – £80.
