The Singapore Convention on Mediation

We are delighted to host this seminar in conjunctions with the Young Mediators Group.
The Singapore Convention on Mediation was opened for signature in 2019 and to date has 55 signatories across the globe. the Convention is a uniform and efficient framework for international settlement agreements resulting from mediation. It applies to international settlement agreements resulting from mediation, concluded by parties to resolve a commercial dispute.
The UK government is currently consulting on whether the UK should sign up to the convention so now is a great time to be holding our discussion.
Our guest speaker is Professor Bryan Clark from the University of Newcastle. Bryan joined the Law School in April 2019 as a Professor having previously spent 15 years at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow where I was Head of School from 2013-2016. Bryan is a socio legal scholar with interests in mediation and alternative dispute resolution and in particular how these processes interact with formal civil justice and the workings of lawyers and judges. I also have interests in aspects of commercial law and access to justice more broadly.
